South and North Korea have agreed to reunite 100 families at Mount Geumgang from October 20 to 26.
Red Cross representatives from the two Koreas adopted an agreement on Tuesday, after overnight negotiations at South Korea's Peace House in the truce village of Panmunjeom from 10:50 a.m. on Monday.
According to the agreement, on next Tuesday Seoul and Pyongyang will exchange lists of names to determine the fates of separated family members.
The lists, along with the living status of the family members, will be returned on October 5. A final list of those selected for the reunions will be exchanged on October 8.
The two sides agreed to accept 250 applicants from South Korea and 200 from the North. They will also allow one or two additional family members at the reunions to aide those who have difficulty walking.
The two Koreas decided to hold a meeting in the near future to discuss matters of mutual interest that are related to continuing reunions of separated families.
