The sixth Gwangju International Art Fair has successfully come to a close, attracting almost 70-thousand visitors.

The organizing committee said on Tuesday that about 800 artworks worth a combined three billion won were sold during the four-day fair, which ended on Sunday.

This year’s fair was organized by the Gwangju Art Association with about 60 local business leaders comprising the organizing committee.

The fair drew positive reviews from visitors for its booths dedicated to young local artists and affordable pieces.

About 80 galleries at home and abroad along with some 120 artists participated in the fair, displaying about 25-hundred artworks. Works from South Korea's first-generation concept artist Kim Gu-rim and Kim Dong-yoo, internationally known for his series "Face," were among those displayed during the fair.

The art fair plans to sign an agreement with the Gwangju Biennale to introduce the works of world-famous artists and galleries next year.
