Lydia Ko Becomes Youngest Winner of LPGA Major

Lydia Ko has become the youngest winner of a woman's golf major by capturing the Evian Championship in France.

The South Korea-born New Zealander shot eight-under 63 after carding eight birdies in the final round at the Evian Resort Golf Club on Sunday.

Ko finished at 16-under 268, six shots clear of American Lexi Thompson.

Ko achieved the feat at 18 years, four months and 20 days, taking the record from American Morgan Pressel, who was 171 days older when winning the Kraft Nabisco in 2007.

Ko, who won a prize of about 578 million won, now has four wins this season and a total of nine wins on the LPGA tour.
