S. Korean Football Chief to Visit Pyongyang for Regional Meeting

President of the Korea Football Association (KFA) Chung Mong-gyu will visit Pyongyang on Friday to discuss the possibility of holding inter-Korean football matches.

The Unification Ministry said on Wednesday that it approved a four-day trip to the North Korean capital city by Chung and four other KFA officials for the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) Executive Committee meeting.

The officials will leave for Beijing on Thursday and enter Pyongyang via an Air Koryo flight on Friday.

On the sidelines of the EAFF meeting, Chung will reportedly meet with officials of the North’s Football Association to discuss inter-Korean football exchanges, including matches.

The two Koreas held friendly football matches in October 1990 in Seoul and Pyongyang. The latest inter-Korean friendly match was in 2005 in Seoul.
