Football Association Chief Departs for Regional Meeting in N. Korea

Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-gyu has left for Beijing to attend the East Asian Football Federation's executive committee meeting in the North Korean capital.

Before his departure at Incheon International Airport on Thursday, Chung said that the purpose of his visit to Pyongyang is to attend the committee meeting. He also said he believes there will be opportunities to talk about inter-Korean football exchanges during his stay.

Chung will meet with East Asian Football Federation executive committee members in Beijing on Thursday. They will together fly to Pyongyang on Friday before returning home Monday.

South and North Korea have held football friendlies before with the first match in October 1990. The matches have not been held since August 2005, which took place in celebration of the Korean Liberation Day.
