The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday that a variety of events will be held across the capital during Chuseok.
On Saturday, the first day of the holiday, a folk song performance will be held at City Hall’s Seoul Citizens Hall.
Traditional folk games, such as yut and jegichagi, will be played throughout Chuseok in such places as Seoul Citizen Hall and Unhyeon Palace.
On Sunday and Monday, people can learn to make songpyeon, or half-moon-shaped rice cakes, as well as set up a food table for ancestral worship at the Namsangol Hanok Village.
Naksan Park, one of Seoul’s hottest sites for foreign tourists, will hold a walking-along-the-fortress-wall event and a dance performance.
Makeshift stages and pavilions will be set up near marinas along the Han River, where participants can play traditional folk games or learn to write a family motto in calligraphy.
Some events, such as the making of songpyeon, will be also available on cruise ships sailing along the Han River twice a day.
