Elderly South Koreans Watching More TV

New statistics show that elderly people in South Korea are spending more time watching television.  
 
According to Statistics Korea Thursday, people aged 65 and over spent an average of three hours and 48 minutes a day watching TV last year. That’s 21 minutes more than five years ago.
 
In particular, men aged 80 and over were found to watch TV for more than five hours a day.
 
People aged between 65 and 69 watched TV for three hours and 18 minutes on average daily while those aged 80 and over watched TV for four hours and 37 minutes.
 
The statistics agency also found that the elderly aged 65 and over spent 51 minutes meeting friends on a daily average, or five minutes less than five years ago.
 
Time that elderly men spent on house chores on a daily average stood at one hour and ten minutes while elderly women spent three hours and 15 minutes. That’s nine more minutes in the case of men and two more minutes for women compared to five years ago.
