KBS Special Drama "Snowy Path" Wins Prix Italia 2015

KBS has won one of the world’s most authoritative broadcasting awards for a special drama about the victims of sexual enslavement by Japan during World War II.

The Prix Italia announced Thursday that “Snowy Path” won the 2015 category for TV Drama — TV Movies and Mini Series.

The judges said the KBS drama, produced to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule, turned the tragic history into a very modern movie, adding that it had indirectly, but poignantly expressed the pain of the victims.

Founded in the 1940s by 15 broadcasters in Europe, the Prix Italia is considered one of the most prestigious international competitions for radio, TV and web programs.

KBS also won a TV documentary award at the Prix Italia 2011 for “Don’t Cry for Me Sudan,” a documentary about the late Father Lee Tae-seok.
