Movie 'Veteran' Becomes S. Korea's No. 4 Box Office Hit

The film, "Veteran," has become South Korea’s fourth biggest blockbuster in terms of tickets sold.

The movie drew some 13 million viewers as of Monday morning, surpassing "The Thieves,” which was released in 2012.

Released on August 5, "Veteran" features an ordinary detective who pursues a high-powered corporate criminal.

The top movie in terms of tickets sold in South Korea is "Roaring Currents," released last year, which depicts 16th-century Korean naval hero Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his legendary battle in 1597, known as the Battle of Myeongnyang. It drew more than 17-point-six million people to theaters.

"Ode to My Father," also released last year, currently takes the number two spot with some 14-point-two million moviegoers. Number three goes to James Cameron's "Avatar," released in 2009.
