Computers used by a Seoul subway operator were found to have been hacked in July by a cyber-organization presumably led by North Korea.

Rep. Ha Tae-keung of the ruling Saenuri Party on Monday revealed documents received from Seoul Metro, operator of subway lines 1 through 4.

The lawmaker said the company’s operating server was hacked in July and as a result 58 computers were infected with malignant viruses.

In response, Seoul Metro claimed the hacking did not pose a threat to the operation of subway trains, saying that the compromised computers were used only for administrative tasks.

The company said that the computer network in charge operating subway trains, including traffic control, cannot be accessed from the outside.
