Team Korea Departs for Kuwait for FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier

South Korea's national football team, led by Coach Uli Stielike, has left for Kuwait to compete in the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

A Group G match between South Korea and Kuwait will be held at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, Korea time, in Kuwait City.

Stielike stressed the importance of the upcoming game as he described it as a match between the two top teams in the group, noting that a victory could mean gaining six points.

The coach added that the match is expected to be difficult, citing that he remembers the South Korea-Kuwait match at the last AFC Asian Cup in Australia to be an extremely arduous game even though South Korea won 1-0.

Team Korea holds the top spot in Group G with nine points after having claimed its third consecutive victory in the second round.
