Koreas Exchange Final Lists of Separated Families for Reunions

The two Koreas on Thursday exchanged final lists of separated family members for reunions that will take place later this month.

The exchange was made at the truce village of Panmunjeom between Red Cross officials.

Initially, the two Koreas planned to have 100 family members from each side take part in the reunions. However, South Korea's final list has 90 and North Korea's list includes 97 as some of the hopefuls have opted out of participating citing health problems related to old age.

The reunions will be held at the North's Mount Geumgang resort from October 20 to 26. Reunions will take place over two three-day occasions.

The government plans to wrap up renovation work on reunion facilities by next Wednesday. On Thursday of next week, the government plans to send a working-level advance team to the North’s mountain resort to carry out a final check until the day before the reunions.
