History textbooks for middle and high schools in South Korea will be designated by the government starting in 2017.
 
The Ministry of Education made the administrative notice on Monday, dubbing the state-designated books "correct history textbooks."
 
The ministry will make an official announcement after collecting ideas on the government's designation of Korean history textbooks. Once the administrative process is complete, the National Institute of Korean History will begin the textbook development process.
