S. Korea Olympic Squad Defeats Australia 2-1 in Football Friendly

The South Korean men's football Olympic squad has defeated Australia in a friendly match, raising hopes of qualifying for next year’s Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

South Korea, led by Shin Tae-yong, defeated Australia two-one at Icheon Sports Complex in Gyeonggi Province. Ryu Seung-woo scored the opening goal in the fourth minute of the second half. The second goal was credited to the Australian goalkeeper.

It was the team's second win against Australia, following a friendly on Friday.

The Olympic squad will take part in a four-nation tournament in China next month and try to qualify for the Olympics at the AFC U-23 Championship in Qatar in January. The top three teams from the tournament will qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
