A South Korean singer and a PR expert have teamed up to promote Korean pop music in the United States.
Singer PSY and Professor Suh Kyung-duk published promotional pamphlets on K-pop and began distributing them at major U.S. universities.
Featuring PSY as the cover model, the pamphlets introduce all aspects of K-pop in English, including its definition, history, keys to popularity and concert culture.
Noting increasing inquiries about K-pop and its growing popularity in the U.S., the Sungshin Women's University professor explained that they decided to produce the pamphlets after concluding that guidebooks are necessary to introduce it properly.
PSY hoped that the pamphlets will help foreign music fans who want to learn more about Korean pop music as well as specific singers.
The K-pop guidebooks were first distributed at universities on the East Coast, such as New York University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brown University. Later, they will become available at universities in the western, central and southern regions.
