"Korea Forum for Global Peace" to Discuss Unification, Disarmament

South Korea will host an international conference on peace and unification later this month.

The Unification Ministry said Monday that the Presidential Preparatory Committee for Unification and a committee preparing celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Korea’s liberation will hold the "Korea Forum for Global Peace" in Seoul on October 29.

Focusing on peace, economic development and human rights, the forum will discuss the significance of achieving a peaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula, disarmament and denuclearization.

Based on the results of the discussions, participants will issue a joint statement for global peace.

The conference will be attended by domestic and foreign academics and international figures, including former Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama, former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell and The Korea Society President Thomas Byrne.
