Seoul to Restore 21M Section of Heunginjimun Gate

Seoul City will restore the northern section of Heunginjimun Gate, widely known as Dongdaemun.

The northern rampart of the gate, which is one of the eight gates of Seoul built during the Joseon Kingdom, was destroyed during the Japanese colonial era.

The city plans to complete the restoration work by the end of this year on the 21-meter rampart section.

The city, which began the work in January, will remove buildings and stonework in the area for the restoration and mark the roads between Heunginjimun and Gwanghwamun to show they are disconnected parts of the rampart.

Traffic will be shut down partially for the construction area from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until the end of next month.
