The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Wednesday that it will hold a kimchi-making festival from November 6 to 8.
Around six-thousand people, including two-thousand foreigners, will participate in Gimjang, or making kimchi to be eaten during the upcoming winter, at Seoul City Plaza November 6 and 7.
The kimchi made during the event will be donated to low-income families in the city.
The city will hold another sub event, called gimjang cabbage festival, on November 8 at the city plaza, where participants can harvest five-thousand cabbages planted in advance at the venue. They can either take them home or donate them to those in need.
During the three-day event, vendors of raw materials for gimjang, such as cabbage and seasonings, will line up at Gwanghwamun Plaza and Taepyeongno.
The city will block some sections of road between the city plaza and Gwanghwamun between the wee hours of November 6 and 4 a.m. of November 9.
