A civic group of Christian teachers has announced its opposition to standardized, state-designated history textbooks that will be used in middle and high schools starting in 2017. 

More than a thousand teachers associated with goodteacher.org said in a declaration on Friday that the state designation will allow a political faction to revise the curricula for its own intent and enforce teachers to advocate a certain ideology. The group added that such action undermines teachers' political neutrality.

The teachers also said that if current history textbooks are found to be problematic, problems should be consistently raised in an academic sense and high-quality textbooks must be produced.
