British Korean War Veteran to be Laid to Rest in Korea 14 Years after Death

The remains of a British Korean War veteran will be transported to South Korea, 14 years after his death.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said Friday that the late Mr. Robert Steed Holman McCotter's grave will be relocated to the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan.

On Wednesday, some 90 people, including family members of McCotter and other war veterans, will take part in the “Turn Toward Busan," to express their respect to UN soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Korean War.

McCotter, who died in Britain in 2001, stated in his will that he wished to be buried in South Korea.

He will become the second UN solider whose final resting place has been relocated to the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan.

The “Turn Toward Busan” event is held every year on November eleventh to honor UN soldiers who died fighting in the Korean War. This year, 90 veterans and their families are set to attend the event at the invitation of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
