Nexen Accepts $12.85 Million MLB Bid for Park Byung-ho

South Korean baseball team Nexen Heroes has accepted a winning bid of 12-point-85 million dollars from an undisclosed Major League Baseball (MLB) club for its infielder Park Byung-ho.

Nexen said Saturday that it had accepted the winning bid in a league-wide silent auction.

The bid for Park is the second-highest by the MLB for an Asian position player, behind the 13-point-12 million dollars submitted by the Seattle Mariners for Ichiro Suzuki in 2000.

As soon as Tuesday, the MLB Commissioner's Office will notify Park of the winning bidder, which will have the exclusive right to negotiate with Park for 30 days.

Last December, Park's former Nexen teammate, Kang Jung-ho, drew a bid of just over five million dollars from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
