S. Korean National Football Team Likely to Face European Teams in June

Head coach of South Korea’s national football team Uli Stielike has hinted at matches with European countries in June next year.

Stielike told reporters on Wednesday in Vientiane, Laos that the team must face competition from other countries besides those in Asia and needs away matches against strong European teams.

The coach said that the Korea Football Association will contact the Netherlands, Denmark, Scotland and other European countries which failed to qualify for Euro 2016 to arrange friendly matches.

The South Korean team achieved outstanding results this year in its group A-matches with 16 wins, three draws and one loss. But most of the opponents were Asian countries that ranked lower in FIFA’s world rankings.
