The word for the Korean alphabet "hangeul," as well as "passion" and "unification" have been selected as the words most symbolic of the tradition, present and future of “Koreanness.”
 
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism received over one-point-two million entries from home and abroad over the past two months containing words symbolizing the past, present and future of being Korean to mark the 70th anniversary of Korean independence.
 
Hangeul was highly ranked in all categories of tradition, present and future of South Korea.
 
The winning words can be found on the official Web site on national brands (www.koreaourstories.kr) from next month.
