Pyongyang Proposes Inter-Korean Working-Level Meeting Next Week

North Korea has proposed holding working-level inter-Korean talks on Thursday next week.

The Ministry of Unification said on Friday that Pyongyang sent a written notice from the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea through the truce village of Panmunjeom.

An official said Pyongyang proposed holding the meeting on the North Korean side of Panmunjeom.

The official noted that the ministry has begun an internal review on the North's sudden offer, adding that the date and specific agenda items are also under consideration.

Earlier this month, the Unification Ministry said it had proposed preliminary meetings three times since late September to arrange inter-Korean talks in accordance with the August 25 South-North agreement.
