Park Byung-ho of Nexen Heroes Named Player of Year

Park Byung-ho of the Nexen Heroes has been named the Player of the Year by the association of retired professional baseball players.

The Korea Professional Baseball Alumni Association made the announcement Friday, adding the award ceremony will be held at El Tower in Yangjae-dong, southern Seoul on December 4.

Park received the best slugger award from the association last year, when his teammate Seo Geon-chang received  its Player of the Year title.

Park led the 2015 regular season with 53 homers and a KBO record 146 RBIs. It was a second year in a row he hit at least 50 homers.

Park also batted 0.343, the fifth best average of the season.

Earlier this month, the Minnesota Twins of U.S. Major League Baseball won a big to negotiate a contract with Park.  He and the team were give 30 days to agree on a contract.
