"Alive" Wins Special Jury Award at Asia-Pacific Film Festival

Organizers of the Jeonju International Film Festival said Saturday that the Korean film "Alive" received a special jury award at the 9th Asia-Pacific Film Festival held in Brisbane, Australia.

The film also won an award at the Jeonju festival's Jeonju Digital Project last year, and it opened in South Korean theaters in May.

"Alive" was director Park Jung-bum's second movie following his critically acclaimed feature length debut film "The Journals of Musan" in 2011.

Director Park also played the lead actor in the latest film.

Many South Korean films, actors and actresses have won awards at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in recent years.

This year, in addition to "Alive," Jeong Jae-yeong won the best actor honors for the film "Right Now, Wrong Then."

The Asia-Pacific Film Festival is jointly hosted by the city of Brisbane, UNESCO and the International Federation of Film Producers Associations. This year, some 290 movies from 60 nations competed in the festival.
