Golfer An Byeong-hun is the first South Korean to receive the prestigious Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award by the European Tour.
 
The European Tour said the 24 year old made a significant impact early in his maiden campaign in The Race to Dubai and sealed his first European Tour title at the BMW PGA Championship in May.
 
An is the son of Ahn Jae-hyung and Jiao Zhimin who were both medalists in table tennis at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
 
He became the youngest winner of the US Amateur Championship at age 17 in 2009 and made his debut on the European Tour this year.
