In the southern port of Busan ... truckers walked off the job for the sixth consecutive day. No breakthrough is in sight.
The Korea International Trade Association says the truckers' strike has caused a total of 450 million dollars in lost shipment.
Samsung Electronics' plant in Gwangju reported two hundred container truck loads of backlog in export shipment. LG Electronics and Daewoo Electronics also were unable to ship out seven hundred container truck loads of exports.
The logistics disruption at the nation's largest port started last Friday when truck drivers went on strike ... demanding a hike in transport fees and revisions to subcontracting practices, among others.
After the government's intervention, Busan port's cargo handling rate rose to almost 48 percent of capacity on Wednesday ... from 15 percent the previous day.
The association also said some foreign-registered container vessels were rerouted to ports in other countries.
