English Premier League footballer Son Heung-min has been picked as the best athlete of the year in a domestic survey.
 
In a poll conducted by Gallup Korea for three weeks through November 21, the 23-year-old South Korean, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur, garnered 24-point-four percent of the votes.
 
Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae received the second most votes at 17-point-five percent, followed by slugger Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers.
 
One-thousand-700 people aged 13 or older participated in the survey, which was conducted in an interview format. The poll has a 95-percent confidence level with a sample error of plus or minus two-point-four percentage points.
