College Graduates Face Increasing Difficulty Finding Jobs

New data shows that recent university and advanced degree graduates are finding it increasingly difficult to find work.

The Ministry of Education on Thursday released survey results of students who acquired an undergraduate or graduate degree in August 2013 or February 2014.

According to the survey, 67 percent found jobs upon graduation either with a company, as the head of a startup or as a freelancer.

It is the second year in a row the figure has dropped, following 68-point-one percent in 2012 and 67-point-four percent in 2013.

Women accounted for around 165-thousand of the newly employed, four-thousand more than men. It is the first time that women have outnumbered men in getting a job upon graduation. However, in terms of percentage, men were more successful in finding jobs at 69 percent compared to 65-point-two percent for women.

The statistics also showed that three out of ten people who were employed by companies quit their jobs within a year.
