The official newspaper of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party has backed up Kim Jong-un’s claim that the country is capable of detonating a hydrogen bomb.
 
On Thursday, the Rodong Sinmun made the claim in an article marking the fourth anniversary of the death of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
 
The paper said that a country that was treacherously downtrodden by major powers has now emerged as a nuclear power.
 
Last week, Kim Jong-un said that the North has emerged as a "powerful nuclear state that can detonate the roars of nuclear and hydrogen bombs."
