National Football Squad Finalized for Rio Olympics

The national football squad for the final Asian preliminary for next year's summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has been finalized.
 
Coach Shin Tae-yong has announced the final entry of 23 players including Kwon Chang-hoon of the Suwon Bluewings, Ryu Seung-woo of the German Bayer Leverkusen and Hwang Hee-chan who plays in the Austrian league.
 
Park In-hyeok who plays at FSV Frankfurt and Choi Kyoung-rok playing for St. Pauli in the Bundesliga were not able to join the Olympic team as their respective teams refused their temporary transfer.
 
Team Korea must finish in the top three at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Championship opening January 12 in Doha, Qatar in order to advance to the main round at the Rio Olympics.
 
In the final preliminary event, South Korea is in group C along with Iraq, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
 
On Monday, the Korean team will leave for Dubai where it will train for the championship.
