Gyeonggi Province says that the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival has been chosen as a promising festival of 2016 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
 
The Baudeogi Festival was launched to cherish the artistic spirit of legendary female performer Baudeogi in the late Joseon dynasty era.
 
The festival has been highly regarded for showcasing tightrope performances and folk dances brimming with Korean humor and satire.
 
The festival won the grand prize at this year's Korea Festival Contents Awards and was also named one of the top ten festivals in Gyeonggi Province.
