Artifacts Marked with China's Tang Dynasty Symbols Found in Hwaseong

Artifacts marked with symbols from China’s Tang Dynasty in the first millennium were found near Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.

Researchers from Hanyang University on Thursday found about one-thousand artifacts near a site with signs of castle walls and buildings from the Three Kingdoms period in Korea.

The researchers asserted the site showed that it marked the start of the Silk Road linking the country's eastern region with Europe via Central Asia.

Researchers expressed hope the site would be included as part of the Silk Road when the route is registered as a world heritage site.
