A private organization plans to file a complaint this week with the National Human Rights Commission over a Taiwanese K-pop singer’s apology for waiving Taiwan’s official flag dudring an online broadcast.
In a statement on Monday, the Center for Multicultural Korea denounced chief of JYP Entertainment Park Jin-young for allegedly forcing the teenage entertainer Tzuyu to make the apology, calling it a “serious racial discrimination and human rights infringement.”
The center said that it will ask the national human rights watchdog to investigate whether the apology was forced or not.
It claimed that JYP Entertainment forced Tuzyu to offer an apology for causing anger among Chinese online users.
The center said it will file suits against JYP Entertainment and Park if they are found have coerced the singer to apologize.
The agency said that it did not force the apology, claiming that it was decided after consultation with Tzuyu’s parents.
