Reconnecting Deoksu Palace Stone Wall to be Completed Within 2016

A stone wall encircling Deoksu Palace in central Seoul will be reconnected 132 years after it was cut off due to the construction of the British Embassy.

Choi Pan-sul, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, says the Seoul city government will spend two-point-eight billion won, or nearly two-point-35 million U.S. dollars, this year to build a 170-meter-long sidewalk around the British Embassy.

In May last year, the city government and the embassy signed a memorandum of understanding on restoring the path along the Deoksu Palace stone wall.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to complete the construction of the sidewalk by the end of the year and improve the surroundings by decorating the stone wall with LED lights.
