Korean Monochrome Paintings to be Shown at LA Art Show

South Korean monochrome paintings will be put on display at the LA Art Show in the United States.

Curator Yoon Jin-sup said the special exhibition titled, “Dansaekhwa II: The Traces of Four Artists,” will be held at the art show, which will open on Wednesday for a five-day run.

The exhibit will introduce the works of Ahn Young-il, Kim Hyung-dae, Lee Seung-jo and Yoo Byeong-hoon.

Yoon said that the exhibition will feature representative works of the four leading artists in the field of Korean monochrome painting, known as "dansaekhwa."

Yoon told organizers of the art show that Dansaekhwa II presents "an abiding spirit of Korea as the 'Land of the Morning Calm,'" and is "characterized by a collective conscious, tactility and performativity."
