Kim Hyo-joo Wins LPGA Season Opener

Kim Hyo-joo came from behind to lift the winning trophy of the LPGA’s season-opening Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic.

The 20-year-old South Korean golfer carded eight birdies and one bogey Sunday to finish with a four-round total of 18-under 274, two strokes ahead of her compatriot and defending champion Kim Sei-young, American Stacy Lewis and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden.

Kim entered the final round a stroke behind joint leaders Nordqvist and Charley Hull of England.

With the victory that marks her third on the LPGA circuit, Kim is expected to boost her world ranking from tenth to seventh. The improved ranking will push her ahead in an intense competition among South Korean golfers to represent the country during the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
