UN Singers to Perform in S. Korea in June

A United Nations choir will perform in South Korea for the first time since its foundation in 1947.

The United Nations Singers announced plans Tuesday to perform in Seoul, Busan, Cheongju, Yeosu and the truce village of Panmunjeom from June fourth to 14.

The UN Singers mission is to spread the message of harmony and understanding through music. The group is largely composed of present and former staff of the UN from about 30 nations. The choir performs concerts in one or two countries annually.

A performance group consisting of members from South Korea, China and Japan will also perform at the Korean concerts along with the UN Singers.
