The World Health Organization has extended its travel advisory on Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, to the rest of the country in a bid to contain the spread of SARS. A similar travel warning is in effect for eight areas, including Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, and Tianjin. The WHO issues recommendations against non-essential travel to certain areas after assessing the number of infections reported per day and the speed with which the disease spreads.
