Various traditional events are underway across downtown Seoul to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday.
Traditional folk games such as the board game Yut and the game of Tuho or pitch-pot will continue at the Seoul Plaza skating rink until Wednesday, the last day of the holiday period.
The Namsangol Hanok Village in central Seoul, a popular spot for foreign tourists all year round, is also offering an array of folk customs events Monday and Tuesday including taste testing traditional holiday food, preparing ritual tables and reading one's fortune for the year.
At the Seoul Museum of History, visitors can watch a performance by a Pyongyang arts troupe consisting of North Korean defectors as well as a South Korean traditional dance show.
Events are also underway at Gwanghwamun Plaza in downtown Seoul such as an exhibition on calligraphic inscriptions of the Korean alphabet Hangeul and a craft class to make traditional handmade fortune pouches for good luck.
