Lee Sang-hwa Wins Third World Title in 500M

South Korea’s Olympic champion Lee Sang-hwa won gold in the women’s 500-meter race at the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships.

Lee posted a track record time of 74-point-859 seconds after two runs on Saturday in the 500-meter event in Russia.

Lee won the world championship for the first time in three years, capturing her third world title in the 500-meter event.

With the win, Lee has tied Catriona Le May Doan of Canada with three world titles in the 500-meter event.

Meanwhile, in the men’s one-thousand-meter race, Kim Tae-yoon finished ninth at one minute eight-point-32 seconds.
