National Winter Sports Festival for Disabled Opens in Pyeongchang

The 13th National Winter Sports Festival for the Disabled opened on Tuesday in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
 
A record delegation of 818 will participate in the festival, including 405 athletes from 17 cities and provinces.
 
During the four-day festival to be held in Seoul, Gangwon and Gyeonggi provinces, the athletes will compete in six events—alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling.
 
Snowboarding was selected as a demonstration sport for the festival and is an official event of the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang.
