S. Korea Wins First Silver Medal at Skeleton Championship

South Korean skeleton slider Yun Sung-bin clinched the country's first-ever silver medal at the world championships on Friday.

Yun finished second overall among 34 athletes with a time of three minutes, 29-point-97 seconds after four runs at the 2016 International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation(IBSF) World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria.

He is not only the first South Korean but the first Asian to win any medal at the skeleton world championship.

The best Asian performance at the tournament to date was the fourth place finish by Japan's Kazuhiro Koshi at the 2003 event in Nagano, Japan.

Martins Dukurs of Latvia won his second straight world title at three minutes, 28-point-84 seconds.

South Korea's best record so far at the championship is also held by the 21-year-old Yun, who finished eighth last year.
