Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Education Minister Lee Joon-sik says that the process of compiling state history textbooks is proceeding smoothly.
Appearing on a KBS program on Sunday, Lee said that the government will complete the compilation of the textbooks by November and post the content on the Internet to release it to the public.
Lee said that the government remains unchanged in its position that it will disclose compilation guidelines, adding it will release them at an appropriate time.
The minister said that the government will expand the inspection of long-term absentees in elementary schools to preschool children and middle school students and produce related measures as soon as the inspection is completed by the end of next month.
Regarding the Nuri Curriculum, a free preschool program for children, Lee said that basically, education and child care for preschool children should be integrated and the government will produce basic plans for the integration.
