World’s Best Go Player to Face Google’s AI in March

The world’s current highest-ranked Go player Lee Se-dol from South Korea will kick off his match against Google’s artificial intelligence AlphaGo in Seoul on March ninth.

The Korean Baduk Association and Google’s AI development house DeepMind announced the match details on Monday in Seoul.

Lee and AlphaGo will hold matches at the Four Seasons Hotel in the South Korean capital on March ninth, tenth, 12th, 13th and the 15th.

The winner will be awarded one million U.S. dollars in prize money, which equates to about one-point-one billion Korean won.

KBS will broadcast the first match live.
