S. Korean Civic Group Seeks to Retrieve Taxidermied Tiger from Japan

A South Korean civic group is seeking to bring a taxidermied tiger back home from Japan.

The Cultural Assets Redemption Agency said that a taxidermied tiger owned by Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, has been confirmed to have been captured by a Japanese person during Tokyo’s colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula.

It sent a petition to the university, asking the tiger to be returned.

The agency said it hopes that Doshisha will return the tiger to Korea for the promotion of the friendship between the two countries.
