Anti-corruption Conference Opens in Seoul

The International Anti-corruption Conference has opened in Seoul. The biennial conference at COEX Convention Center has brought together more than eight-hundred representatives from some 100 nations. President Roh Moo-hyun addressed the opening session of the four-day conference which will be followed by the Third Global Forum from Thursday to Saturday. Justice Minister Kang Kum-sil plans to meet foreign figures from more than 10 nations on the sidelines of the week-long event to discuss bilateral cooperation in legal investigations. The International Anti-Corruption Conference is a civilian-government joint meeting aimed at eradicating corruption and enhancing transparency. The Global Forum is a gathering of cabinet-level ministers, government officials and academics in charge of anti-corruption supervision. High-profile figures, including OECD Secretary-General Donald Johnston and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans attended the conference and delivered keynote speeches.
