Number of S. Korean MOOCs to Surpass 100 This Year

The number of the Massive Open Online Courses(MOOCs) provide by South Korean universities will jump nearly four times this year.

The Ministry of Education said Friday that it plans to increase the number of MOOCs from 27 last year to more than 100 this year.

According to the ministry, Kyung Hee University and Ewha Womans University even plan to grant a grade to their students taking such a course.

Some other universities, including Seoul National University(SNU), are working to utilize MOOCs in connection with courses held on campus.

Some 72-thousand are enrolled in the Korean style free online courses that were launched in October last year with support from the government.
