South Korea will host the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships for the first time this month.
Consisting of 500, one-thousand, one-thousand-500 and three-thousand meter events, the competition will be held at Mokdong Ice Rink in southwestern Seoul from March eleventh through 13th. Skaters will also compete in a relay race.
With skaters from some 30 countries participating, an overall winner will be selected with the adding of all scores earned in the events.
Outside the rink, meanwhile, visitors will be able to experience short track skating with the help of virtual reality technology.
A total of ten South Korean skaters—five women and five men—will take part in the championships.
The South Korean female skaters aim to achieve the all-around victory for the third straight year, while their male counterparts set their eyes on winning the title to make up for failures in the two previous competitions.
